Updated AALS Annual Program Information

There are two main pieces of news for members of the Poverty Law Section of AALS: (1) The Joint Program for the Clinical Legal Education and Poverty Law is going to be held at Parc 55 and the info on speakers is below, and (2) AALS has released the location of programs (including which programs are going to held in the Hilton and is also allowing registration refunds for those who decide not to go to the conference if the request is made by 3pm EST Dec. 20, 2010.  More info after the break.

The focus of this program will be to explore the value of “fostering justice and public service in the legal community,” emphasizing not only our pedagogical goal of teaching our students how to serve individual client needs, but also, as importantly, our duty to instill in our students a recognition of the importance of promoting justice on a broader scale and transforming unjust legal systems, structures, and paradigms. With speakers from within and outside legal academia, the program will include concrete examples of academic and clinical projects that advance these teaching and service goals. Business Meeting of Section on Poverty Law at Program Conclusion.

From AALS: For those of you who requested relocation, AALS staff has worked very hard to accommodate your requests. However, they could not relocate all Section programs. We will announce program locations tomorrow, December 16. No program times have been changed. The updated program information will be posted on our Annual Meeting web site www.aals.org/am2011, click “Program.” To obtain access to the program with room locations, login with your user name (email address) and password (click “forgot password” to obtain a new one.) As indicated on the site, the deadline for refunds of the Registration Fee (less a $20.00 processing fee) has been extended. Refunds will be available if requested by 3:00 p.m. EST on Monday, December 20, 2010. In San Francisco upon check-in at the Annual Meeting, completely revised Annual Meeting Program books will be ready for registrants. Please note: Registration and check-in for the Annual Meeting will be located in Hotel Nikko.
