Shout out for a great AALS Panel!

I just wanted to report that the Joint Program for the Clinic and Poverty Section was great!  Emily Benfer and Annette Appell put together a great program on “Theory and Praxis in Reducing Women’s Poverty.”  The participants were largely chosen (anonymously) from a call-for-papers and their talks reflected the strength of their submissions.  They were Daniel L. Hatcher (Baltimore), Beth Caldwell (Thomas Jefferson), Karen Czapanskiy (Maryland), Margo Lindauer (Georgetown), Robin R. Runge (North Dakota), and Dehlia Umunna (Harvard).  The papers are ultimately going to be published by the American University Journal of Gender, Social Policy, and the Law so a big thanks also to the Journal.  =)

I am not overly enthusiastic about AALS as a location for meaningful conversations, I tend to prefer the issue specific (poverty law or Indian law) conferences where everyone is there for the same basic topic area, but this was great and there were surprising overlaps even though the papers covered a broad range of issues.
